Healthy Smiles Start Here

Routine Dental Exams and X-rays

Routine dental exams allow us to monitor your oral health and discover any irregularities such as decay, disease or infection. During this process our team will take routine x-rays and examine your teeth, gums, soft tissues, bone and jaw structures, we will also be on the lookout for an oral cancer that may be present.

We comply with the American Dental Association and recommend you are seen every six months for a routine dental exam and cleaning. However, some patients who have underlying health conditions or concerns may be recommended to visit us more frequently.

Dental Cleanings

Dental cleanings not only keep your gums healthy, they also prevent decay and disease. Every person develops hard build up and bacteria on their teeth that can't be removed by just brushing and flossing. While good home care is essential for your oral health, it is also crucial for you to visit your dentist for routine cleanings. Our skilled hygienists use specialized instruments to thoroughly remove plaque and tartar and reduce your risk for developing cavities and gum disease.

3 Types of Dental Cleanings

1. Prophylaxis Cleaning - A prophylaxis cleaning is a routine preventative cleaning that is recommended every 6 months for people who have a healthy gum condition. This allows us to help you maintain your healthy status!

2. Scaling and Root Planing - This cleaning is also known as a "deep cleaning". We recommend this cleaning in the presence of active periodontal disease to help treat and improve this condition. Our hygienists use specialized instruments to clean plaque, tartar (calculus), and stain present above and below the gum line to restore your gums back to a healthy status.

3. Periodontal Maintenance - This routine cleaning is recommended for patients who have had scaling and root planing (a deep cleaning) done and now require routine cleanings to help maintain their newly healthy gums. This cleaning is typically recommended every three months but is personalized by our hygienists on a case-by-case basis.
